More Than Enough Cancer Survivors’ Support Circle is a magazine designed to bring hope and encouragement to cancer survivors. The director’s attempt is to bring authentic information to survivors and bring words of comfort and encouragement to them. Consciously, the theme chosen for this magazine is based on the discussion between Elijah and Elisha recorded in 2nd Kings 2. In one scene, Elisha found out that his dear friend and master( Mentor and mentee) was about to be taken away. The disclosure awakened Elisha because he was going to need more power than he presently had to carry on the work of his master, Elijah. Following the revelation, Elisha knew that it was necessary to make an urgent request. The request was for a double portion of the blessings that was on Elijah’s life. This request is recorded in 1 Kings 2: 9, which says, ” And it came to pass when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I should do for thee before I am taken away from thee. And Elisha said I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.”
Elisha knew that he would need more power, even an extraordinary supply, to deal with the challenges he would encounter after his master’s departure.
Survivors encounter challenges designed to prevent our pursuit of healthy lives; therefore, we must ask for double portions of power and strength to deal with these obstacles. If we are to experience healthy lives, we need to be determined to fight to obtain the lifestyle change we earnestly seek. Our desire indeed is not only to survive but to enjoy life on the highest level, and in the process, be a blessing to others. To accomplish this, survivors need a fresh supply of God’s holy spirit daily: Along with that; the right kinds of supplements, doctors’ evaluations, and life of fasting and prayer. We need more than enough or double portions of his mercy and grace. Just enough of any supply will run out quickly. Still, more than enough supply will provide the overflow for ourselves and offer to others as we make our way to our final destination.
