MY TESTIMONY OF HEALING — VICTORY OVER CLL
CLL IS NOT A GAME
I am encouraged to share my testimonies of healing because of the examples of saints ancient and present. I am convinced that God’s name will be glorified, and I hope that others will be inspired to trust God, who is the present help in times of trouble. He is the Great Physician and the God of More Than Enough. He might not be walking on earth now, but His power is limitless. He is still living in the hearts of His children and healing diseases.
Observable Changes
When I observed the changes in my body, it propelled me to seek the intervention of doctors. Unfortunately, not one of those to whom I had gone was able to make any diagnosis. Like the woman with the issue of blood, I went about asking questions and seeking help from anyone who would stop to listen to me. On one cold wintery day in December, I met my friend and inquired of her if she could recommend a doctor who could make a diagnosis that would provide some reasonable answers to my questions. My friend suggested that I try her doctor. What a change it was to be sitting in Dr. J’s office! She listened keenly and showed interest in my concerns as I listed them. I told her of my extreme weight loss, the weakness in every limb, the chills like sheets covering my entire body at times, the visible and swollen nodes protruding from different areas of my body, ingrown flesh, and loss of appetite. She was honest enough to confess to not having the answer to my questions. However, she highly recommended a specialist. He would be the One to perform the biopsy that would provide and determine the cause of the ambiguities in my body.
The Biopsy
When one hears the word biopsy, one tends to go into a dreamland where many questions are asked but with no logical answers. This was where I resided for some time: the only difference was that I made time to dialog with God on the subject.
The biopsy day came, and although this was a scary time after the necessary preparation was done, I went into surgery trusting God to be my Great Physician. Within two hours, I was awakened by the nurse, who informed me that everything went well and that the doctor would come in shortly to speak to me. When he came in, I was still in a daze, but I can remember some of his words. He said, “You are going to be alright, but you have to come to my office because in two weeks the result of the biopsy would be ready in my office.”
Result of the Biopsy
Feb. 12,2012 was the day when I would be informed of the result of the biopsy. On my way to the doctor’s office, the song that kept my sanity was one of my mother’s favorites. This I sang as I made the forty-five-minute trip:
He is able. He is able. I know He is able.
I know my Lord is able to carry me through.
He healed the brokenhearted.
He set the captive free.
He caused the lame to walk again.
And caused the blind to see.
He is able. He is able. I know He is able.
I know my God can carry me through.
Immediately after I entered the waiting room, the tears began to fall in torrents down the sides of my gaunt cheekbones. The doctor entered, and he inquired why I was crying. I replied, “The uncertainty, sir.” He then left the room, and within ten minutes, he returned with his nurse. I knew then that my suspicion was correct. He disseminated the devastating news, and I cried some more, but then Bro. Brown offered a prayer on my behalf, and that helped me to regain my composure. The diagnosis was Lymphoma. However, the doctor told me that he would send me to the best oncologist and return to see him within six months.
Power in Prayer
From an early age, I have been an ardent believer in the power of prayer, so I solicited the prayers of everyone far and near. I believe that prayers were made for me on every continent. Saints, as well as sinners alike, were praying. Then there were the days when groups of saints fasted for me. I also believe that if you hold up your side of the bargain, God would, in turn, hold up His. I kept up my prayer ministry from home, and when my strength would allow, I would go to the train station, witness two people, and then return home.
The Staging Process
The staging was done by the oncologist, and it revealed that I was in the fourth stage. Along with that finding, the bone biopsy proved that eighty percent of my bone marrow was affected. Doctor H. recommended that I begin chemotherapy immediately, but I opted out of that. I was convinced that God would heal me. I did not know how or when, but I did not lose hope. Sign after sign in dreams and His words reassured me that God would come through for me, and I trusted Him. I was following His dictates.
The Search for Naturopathic Doctors
The search for the best naturopathic doctor began, and my daughter, along with other family members, found one located in Upstate New York. Included in the treatment plan were supplements of diverse kinds, Vitamin C of high dosage given intravenously, nutritionists, chiropractors, and acupuncture, to name a few. This practice went on for nine months. My nutritionist designed my meals which in the beginning consisted of several juices daily. Along with that, I made visits to chiropractors, dentists, Detox specialists, acupuncturists, to name a few of the health care providers. Continuing the holistic treatment, I attended a treatment center in Wildwood, Georgia, for two weeks. The treatment plan emphasized the eight laws of health, and several beneficial water treatments, regular evaluations, exercise, and intravenous Vitamin C. These served me well and I regained some strength. Still, the nodes were not going away as quickly as they should. They needed a push start. Before I departed from Wildwood, my doctor, who typically does not advocate for chemotherapy, advised me to get some treatment because although I was regaining my strength, the nodes were not getting any smaller.
This was the Life in Florida
After his evaluation, Dr. A. informed me that he was developing a treatment plan that included three chemotherapy kinds. This statement made me anxious but not afraid, for I know the power of the God I serve with reverence. On the way home, my sister must have wondered why I was so silent, but I was silently speaking to my Great Physician. This is what I said, “Master, you know that this frail body cannot endure three kinds of chemo. Please do something for me. Amen.” You might wonder if you have to verbally make your request to your Lord to get an answer, and I will say to you, “No!” No one has to verbally utter words to God for Him to hear. He hears and knows the intentions of the heart. I asked the Lord to change that plan because He knew, as well as I did, that my body could not favorably deal with that harsh treatment. Well, what do you do?
When I went in on the day to begin the procedure, the doctor called and informed me that he no longer would be administering three kinds of chemo but that he would order for me ONE type. Then he continued as God would have him speak, “This one kind is going to work.” This brought jubilant joy to my heart, and a smile decorated my face. God answered my prayer again. It was here that I was made aware that the diagnosis was not only Lymphoma but CLL, which is Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Nothing is ever hidden from God but know that He is in charge of our lives. He desires us to prosper and to be in good health.
THE TATTERED ROPE
Within four months and two weeks, the last treatment of chemo was administered. It was a glorious day when I entered the stage where everyone who had ever finished chemo stood. I was getting ready to do something incredible. I was about to ring the bell. What is this, you may wonder? Ringing the bell, also known as the Victory Bell, signaled the end of my treatment. All patients engage in this activity to demonstrate the completion of their chemotherapy treatment. In slow motion, I walked up to the brown bell, faced it with unspeakable joy in my heart, reached for the rough rope that hung lifeless from the inner part of the bell, took a good look at it, and then looked at the patients sorrowfully. Then with a look that said “thank you” to the health care providers, I reached the cord and rang the Victory Bell; once, then twice, and finally for the third time. All of a sudden, tears like hot lava came rushing down the sides of my cheeks; however, with gratitude in my heart, I bowed my head and said, “Thank you, Lord, for showing mercy to me.” The feeling at this moment was one that is incomparable. It was as if a ton of bricks was lifted from my shoulders. You cannot imagine the early mornings waking up to get my ride to the treatment center, for which I was most grateful. My family members had to deny themselves and make the sacrifice to take me to the center. My dear nephew Rafae’, a young man, was my driver, travel companion, and my recorder during this season of my life.
Shortly after that, the following CT scan proved that I was in remission. This was like a scene from one of Shakespeare’s plays. As soon as the message was related to me by my doctor, I said thank you, knelt in his office, and profusely poured out my thanksgiving to my father. This act was surreal, almost like a scene from a movie.
Time for the PET Scan
There was one more thing that I had to do, and it was done the following month. Of course, this was the PET scan. This was considered an invasive procedure, but I followed through, and in a few weeks off, I went to NY to have it done. The result was ready within a week.
One night, while I was in a deep sleep, I detected the faint ringing of my phone. To my surprise, the voice was that of my previous oncologist from New York. She called to give me other good news. Dr. H. said the PET scan showed that I am cancer-free. There was no cancer in my body. No cancer in my body! This was nothing short of marvelous.
VICTORY! YES. VICTOR!.
By all accounts, this was another miracle. It was now time to offer praise profusely to the God of more-than-enough on a different level. And I did just that.
In June of the year 2021, I celebrated eight years of being cancer-free. God healed me, and unceasingly I praise His holy and deserving name. Like Paul and Silas, I have learned to praise God during my trials, but more so during my victories. I am not ashamed to tell what God has done and is doing for me. My promise to the Lord is that I will open my mouth in the great congregation to publish His fame. During my challenges I have learned that “There is nothing too hard for God to do!” This is the advertisement. “God is able to do exceeding, abundantly above all that we can ask or think.” Prayer is the key !
HOW TO BUILD YOUR FAITH WITH SCRIPTURE WORD VITAMINS
SPIRITUAL MUSSELS.
Have you ever wondered why we take care of the physical body more than the spiritual? Well, we learn that it is equally imperative to take proper care of both the physical temple as well as the spiritual. Often we select the most nutritious food to feed the physical body so that it will serves us well; however, we must allow the holy spirit to generously feed us so that we will develop healthy spiritual muscles to subdue the giants in our lives. John 1: 14 says, “ And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.”
Jesus, the Son of God dwells is us by the holy spirit and he is called the bread of life. Sometimes he is referred to as ‘the water springing up into everlasting life’. He is meat and milk, to name a few descriptions. Yes, He is food for hungry souls. It is true, we do not need to manipulate any of these foods to feed our souls, because Jesus has already prepared Himself for us, and anyone can come to His table and dine on his word. In Saint John 6:35 it records the following verse: “And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” We need to accept his invitation; study his words, hide them in our hearts and be guided by them.
DO NOT DELAY
Indisputably, anyone who lacks spiritual nutrients will undoubtedly encounter spiritual deficiency. They will be unable to fight off the attacks of the enemies. Jesus is the word and in Matthew 4:4 when the devil came to tempt him he used the word . This is what he said emphatically: “ Man shall not live by bread alone ( physical bread) but by every word that procedeth out of the mouth of God.”
The spiritual nutrients that we need to feed the body is gained by reading God’s Word and hiding them in our hearts. These words are what I call: ‘SPIRITUAL WORD VITAMIN’.
COME TASTE AND SEE
In Psalm I: 3, we are instructed to meditate on the Word of the Lord so that we will be like “a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth fruit in its season;” This fruit or food is unlike any physical food.
In contrast to eating physical food, I become hungrier when I feed on God’s Word, the spiritual food that builds my spiritual muscles .When I feast on his word, I am able resist the temptations to disobey Jesus’s commands . The more I feed on God’s word and taste and see how gracious our God is, it is the more I want to allow the holy spirit to feed me. I like this Bread of Life. I want this living water to quench my thirst.
During one of Paul’s communications with the saints in Colossae, he wrote a letter teaching the Colossians how to resist temptations. This is what he stated in Colossians 3:16; “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;” This means that they were to be on guard and watch out for the wiles of the devil. We also have to be on guard . What we must do is feed on the Word daily. We need more than enough so that we will not go weak, hungry, or fail when we are tempted. If we feed on the word daily we will have the overflow to share with others. Feasting on the words will help us to grow in grace, prosper, and be in health. “ Feast on the WORD and build your spiritual muscles.
