SEEK THE CHAIN BREAKER
Good health is a treasure that God wants everyone to possess. In 3rd John 2, he says, ” Beloved I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” The woman with the blood issue in Luke 8:43- 48 wanted to resolve her poor health condition, so she began the grueling quest to find help. Although the record did not provide the health care providers’ names, it is evident that they were the best and brightest. She secured and kept all appointments.
Regretfully this lady spent much of her savings seeking help, but no doctor could diagnose her case. They were, therefore, unable to provide any medication to alleviate her discomfort. What follows is that her visible deterioration continued; nevertheless, she kept pressing on. Assuredly her faith was firm as visualized in her resilience. She displayed no intention of giving up.
This day was like Christmas to the ill woman because the news of the great physician’s visit spread like wildfire in and around her neighborhood. Incredible joy filled her heart, and she developed the strength to go after the healer. To her, this was the chain breaker that would bring relief to her. She set out on the journey repeating as she went:” if I may touch but the hem of his garment, I shall be made whole .” Matthew 9:21
The demonstration of hope reminded me of the time when Oral Roberts first came on the scene. In every town that he ventured, people assembled around him, waiting on him to heal them.
I MUST SEE JESUS
Upon reaching her destination, I could see her eyes dancing over the vast crowd. Finally, they landed on Jesus, the great physician. Without asking any questions or making excuses for her irrational behavior, she began to shove her away, passing everyone. Her tenacity provided the fuel to push harder than any other person. Nothing or no one would prevent her from receiving the healing that she was in search of for so many years, all twelve of them. Fortunately, the only stethoscope used in the process was “God’s Holy Spirit and Power.”
Soon after the woman with the issue of blood touched the hem of the great physician’s garment, there was a shift in her body. Something wonderful happened. The picture of her hand extending upwards in praise created a vivid scene on the canvas. Immediately she was delivered from her complaint.
HELP IS AVAILABLE !
For the woman with the issue of blood, this was an incredible experience, and all who diligently seek God’s favor can benefit from the great physician’s healing power. He is the permanent and authentic chain-breaker.
It is not uncommon to find people seeking healing for their several complaints. When there is no help from friends, we move on to people in the communities. As soon as this list is exhausted and the symptoms are persistently harming us, we bend our way to doctors. Often these doctors deplete our financial resources. For some of us, this is the time when we turn to Jesus. We forget that He is the present help that supplies all our needs according to his riches in glory.
Yes, Jesus is the Great Physician, and he never turns away anyone who comes to him for help. He makes no mistakes in diagnosing our illnesses, so there is no reason to worry about medication overdose. God heals by speaking the ‘WORD.’ To top it off, he makes house calls, and his ‘Global Positioning System’ is of the highest caliber. It will not go off course; hence, “He is “The on-time God.”
BRUSH OR TOUCH?
The woman with the problem showed the difference between the brush and the touch. Today many people anoint the head with oil or lay hands on people. In this case, the woman exercised her faith and she reached out and touched the hem of Jesus’s garment; however, that touch was the connection that made the difference. The truth is, touching Jesus by faith makes all the difference in people’s lives. Why not touch him when the chain is an illness. He specializes in breaking health chains.
CONCLUSION
Just in case you are wondering if there is a specific pattern to solicit the healer’s attention, there is absolutely none, neither is there any particular time of the day or place. The unique requirement recorded in Matthew 7:7: is “ask, seek, and knock in faith.” WE are to pray always. The great physician will heal us. He wishes that we ‘prosper and be in health.’
